Saint Francis Women’s Tennis Wins at Bucknell Invitational

Lewisburg, PA – ‌ The Saint francis University women’s tennis team concluded competition​ at the annual Bucknell ⁣Invitational ‌this weekend, securing 11 wins across 28 ​total matches. The red Flash demonstrated strong ⁢performances in both singles and⁢ doubles​ play, signaling early​ promise⁤ in⁤ the 2025-26 season.

The invitational provided valuable early-season experience for a team blending veteran leadership with emerging talent. Saint‌ Francis’s showing⁢ at ⁣Bucknell sets a foundation for their ‌upcoming Northeast Conference Individual⁣ Tournament, where players will compete for⁢ individual titles and crucial ranking points. The team’s performance underscores ⁢their commitment ​to building​ a competitive program within the NEC.

Freshman Julia Ritchey achieved a significant ⁢milestone, earning her first collegiate ‌singles victory during the tournament. The underclassmen pairing of Sophia Cunningham and Emma Marais spearheaded the team’s doubles success, posting a 2-1 record.

Veteran Kelly Dowuona, the program’s all-time wins leader,⁢ added two more victories to her extraordinary record. Cunningham also ⁣contributed consistently, ⁢going 2-3 in singles play to bring her season record to 4-2. Freshman Helena Lynn​ bolstered her early success with two wins, raising her singles​ record to six for the season.

The Saint Francis women’s tennis⁣ team will next travel to the Northeast Conference Individuals Tournament ⁤on Friday,September 19th,joining the men’s team for the annual event.
