Lewisburg, PA – The Saint francis University women’s tennis team concluded competition at the annual Bucknell Invitational this weekend, securing 11 wins across 28 total matches. The red Flash demonstrated strong performances in both singles and doubles play, signaling early promise in the 2025-26 season.
The invitational provided valuable early-season experience for a team blending veteran leadership with emerging talent. Saint Francis’s showing at Bucknell sets a foundation for their upcoming Northeast Conference Individual Tournament, where players will compete for individual titles and crucial ranking points. The team’s performance underscores their commitment to building a competitive program within the NEC.
Freshman Julia Ritchey achieved a significant milestone, earning her first collegiate singles victory during the tournament. The underclassmen pairing of Sophia Cunningham and Emma Marais spearheaded the team’s doubles success, posting a 2-1 record.
Veteran Kelly Dowuona, the program’s all-time wins leader, added two more victories to her extraordinary record. Cunningham also contributed consistently, going 2-3 in singles play to bring her season record to 4-2. Freshman Helena Lynn bolstered her early success with two wins, raising her singles record to six for the season.
The Saint Francis women’s tennis team will next travel to the Northeast Conference Individuals Tournament on Friday,September 19th,joining the men’s team for the annual event.
