RM Injures Ankle Ahead of BTS Comeback, Will Perform with Limitations

Seoul, South Korea – March 21, 2026 – RM, leader of the globally renowned group BTS, sustained an ankle injury just two days before the group’s highly anticipated comeback. He injured his ankle during rehearsal on March 19th.

Medical examinations revealed a sprain of the inferior articular cartilage and a partial ligament tear, as well as a contusion of the talus bone. According to BigHit Music, medical professionals advised a minimum of two weeks of immobilization following a cast fitting.

Despite the medical recommendation, RM expressed a strong desire to perform. BigHit Music stated they prioritized the medical opinion but ultimately decided to allow RM to participate in the upcoming performance with minimized movement to prevent further injury. He will participate within the limits of his injury.

He expressed disappointment at potentially being unable to fully perform the choreography but vowed to give his best on stage, focusing on vocals and atmosphere. He asked fans to anticipate the performance, assuring them he would do his best to recover by the concert date.

BTS is scheduled to hold a comeback live event, “BTS Comeback Live: Arirang,” at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul today, March 21st, at 8:00 PM KST. They will perform tracks from their new release.
