A woman dining at a Mexican restaurant in Morrow, Georgia, discovered a 1.5-inch razor blade in her taco salad on Sunday, prompting a criminal investigation by the Morrow Police Department.
Sabrina Wideman-Reese, the customer, told local news outlets she felt a sharp pain while eating at Las Trojas on Mt. Zion Road. “Why would somebody do this? It could have turned out worse,” she said, describing the moment she realized what had cut her lips and tongue. She subsequently discovered the blade mixed with the lettuce, cheese, and meat in her salad.
The incident comes at a particularly demanding time for Wideman-Reese, who buried her husband less than two weeks ago, according to reports. “He fought hard to stay here with us, but God said otherwise,” she stated. She expressed fear for her two daughters, stating, “I was thinking my kids would be orphans if I would have swallowed it.”
The Morrow Police Department has confirmed it is investigating whether the razor blade was intentionally placed in the food or ended up there accidentally.
A recent health inspection of Las Trojas, conducted on February 5 by the Georgia Department of Public Health, revealed several violations, including containers of food stored on the ground. The restaurant received a score of 81.
A manager at Las Trojas declined to comment on the incident. The police investigation remains active.
