NYT Pips Hints & Solutions | Today’s Puzzle Guide

The New York Times introduced a new daily logic puzzle, Pips, on Monday, August 18, offering a departure from its popular word games like Wordle and Connections. Unlike those titles, Pips is a word-free game centered around dominoes and mathematical reasoning.

The game challenges players to drag and drop dominoes onto a color-coded grid, adhering to mathematical conditions indicated by the grid’s coloring and accompanying tags. These conditions specify requirements for the pips – the dots – on the dominoes, such as sums or comparative values. Each domino carries a varying number of pips, ranging from zero to six on each side.

Players are presented with a selection of dominoes and must strategically place them to satisfy all the conditions within the grid. The puzzle is solved when all dominoes are correctly positioned. The game offers varying difficulty levels: easy, medium and hard.

Pips is available online and through iOS and Android applications. It joins a growing lineup of games offered by The New York Times, including Mini Crossword, Spelling Bee, Letter Boxed, Tiles, Wordle, and Connections. The game tests pattern recognition and logical reasoning skills, according to developers.

As of March 21, 2026, assistance for today’s New York Times Pips puzzle is available online, offering walkthroughs and hints to help players match dominoes to the tiles and solve the puzzle.
