no. 5 Penn State Women’s Volleyball Dominates New Hampshire in Straight Sets

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The No. 5 Penn State women’s volleyball team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over New Hampshire at Rec Hall on Saturday, continuing their strong start to the season. The Nittany Lions showcased a powerful offensive performance and stifling defense, sweeping the Wildcats with set scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-20.

Penn State’s service game proved particularly potent,with the team recording a season-high 11 aces. Freshman setter Maddy Lyon and senior outside hitter Mac MacKillop each served for two aces, while contributions came from Gillian Grimes, Jordan Hopp, and Jocelyn nathan with one ace apiece. This marked the most aces for the Nittany Lions since they registered 12 in an NCAA First Round sweep over Delaware State last season.

Outside hitter Megan Sellman led all attackers with 11 kills, hitting .636 in the opening set and .667 in the second. Kills were also plentiful from Jurevicius (7),Ewing (5),and Martin (7). Defensively, Falduto and Grimes tied for the team lead with seven digs each, helping to limit New hampshire to a .190 hitting percentage. Middle blocker Taylor Martin added four blocks.

The Nittany Lions established control early in each set, opening the first with a 9-1 run and the second with a 5-0 burst. new Hampshire’s Lucy Chertock was the lone Wildcat to reach double-digit kills, finishing with 10.

Penn State will return to action on Tuesday, hosting Bucknell at 7 p.m. Bucknell enters the match with a 1-4 record, having defeated Oral Roberts 3-1 on Saturday.
