Monagas State Residents Receive Free Medical Care in major Health Day
Aguasay, Monagas – Over 1,500 residents of the Aguasay municipality in Monagas state received free medical attention and medications during a recent social assistance day held at the Type I “dr. José Gregorio Hernández” Hospital.The initiative,a collaboration between Governor ernesto Luna and the ministry of Popular Power for Health (Minsalud),aimed to expand healthcare access within the region.
The health day offered specialized care in General Medicine, Gynecology, Epidemiology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Traumatology, Cardiology, and Pediatrics.Services included ultrasound, deworming, internal consultations, immunizations, and a pharmacy, all organized under the Regional Government’s “More Territory, less desktop” program through the Regional Health Directorate.
“These days guarantee that people receive specialized medical care, protecting and including them within the regional health system,” stated Aguasay Mayor Rafael Sánchez Mérida, adding that the effort aligns with President Nicolás Maduro’s commitment to the well-being of Venezuelan citizens.
Yerika Alzolay, the single health authority in Monagas, emphasized that the “More Territory, less desktop” program is a direct result of President Maduro’s initiative to strengthen the National Public Health System (SPNS). “It reaffirms our commitment to the well-being of each person and bringing direct medical assistance to communities,” she said.
Residents expressed gratitude for the chance to receive care and medication. Aidee Agrinsones, 54, of Aguasay, reported satisfaction with her internist evaluation, a breast echo, and receiving necessary medications.Yurelis Veracierta, 43, of the El Cedral sector, described the day as “a blessing,” noting that she and her one-year-old grandson both received pediatric and general medical attention, along with prescriptions.
The health day is part of broader health policies promoted by President Maduro and Minister of Popular Power for Health,Magaly Gutiérrez,to provide timely and quality care to the Venezuelan population.
