Barcelona and Žalgiris Kaunas forward Moses Wright have reached an agreement for a contract through the 2027-2028 season, according to reports from Italian journalist Alessandro Maggi on March 19, 2026. The deal, if finalized, would see the 26-year-old American center join the Spanish EuroLeague powerhouse.
Wright, who joined Žalgiris this past summer from Olympiacos Piraeus, currently has a contract with the Lithuanian club that runs through the end of the current season. He has been a key performer for Žalgiris, averaging 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and a 16.2 efficiency rating per game in the EuroLeague this season. These statistics place him as the second-highest scorer and overall performer for Kaunas, trailing only Sylvanas Francisco.
The potential move to Barcelona has been discussed previously, though no agreement had been reached at that time. Wright recently acknowledged ongoing conversations with EuroLeague teams, but did not deny Barcelona’s interest when questioned about the rumors. Barcelona reportedly sees Wright as a valuable addition to their frontcourt and a potential scoring threat.
Barcelona’s pursuit of talent extends beyond Wright, with the club also reportedly maintaining interest in Žalgiris guard Sylvainas Francisco. However, Francisco, having recently changed agents, is currently exploring opportunities in the NBA and will consider EuroLeague options later. Stambolou Efes is also competing for Francisco’s services, alongside Paris Basketball, who are also interested in Nadir Hifi, according to Maggi.
A potential complication for Barcelona in securing Wright’s services involves passport eligibility. Sources indicate that Wright could potentially obtain Cypriot citizenship, which would allow him to avoid being counted as a non-EU player in the Spanish ACB league. Wright had previously intended to join the Cypriot national team for the 2025 European Championship, but the process of obtaining citizenship has not yet been completed.
