Vice Principals‘ Actress kimberly Hébert Gregory Dies at 52

Kimberly Hébert Gregory, known for her⁣ role as⁣ Dr. ⁣Belinda Brown in the HBO comedy ⁣series Vice Principals, has died, her ex-husband and fellow actor Chester Gregory ⁤confirmed Friday.​ She was 52.

Gregory’s⁣ passing ‍has prompted an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans, celebrating a⁢ career spanning stage and screen. Chester Gregory shared a tribute on Instagram, writing, “you were brilliance embodied, a‍ Black woman whose mind lit every room, whose presence carried both fire‌ and‍ grace.”

born December 7, 1972, in Houston, ⁣Texas, Gregory discovered ‌her passion for performing at⁢ a young age,⁣ attending the Kinder High School for the Performing⁤ and Visual Arts. She ⁢continued her education at⁤ DePaul University’s ⁢Theater School, earning ​an MFA.

Gregory began her career on​ the Chicago stage in the late ‌1990s,gaining recognition with the Chicago Theatre Company. Her performance ⁤in By the⁢ Way,‌ Meet ‌Vera Stark earned her a Drama desk Award nomination.

She transitioned to film and ​television, appearing in films including I Think ⁣I ⁤Love My Wife (2007),‍ Red Hook Summer ⁤(2012), Arizona ⁢ (2018), Five Feet ‌Apart (2019), Miss ⁤Virginia ⁤(2019),‌ and ‍ John Henry (2020).‌

Her ⁣extensive television credits include guest and recurring roles in series such⁢ as gossip Girl,⁢ law & Order, Two and a Half Men, Shameless, The Big Bang ⁤Theory, ⁢ Devious Maids, Gray’s Anatomy, Brooklyn⁣ Nine-Nine, and Better Call Saul.⁣

In Vice ‍Principals, which aired on HBO ⁤for ‌two seasons between 2016 and 2017, Gregory portrayed Dr. Belinda Brown,the new school principal who becomes the target of ⁤an uneasy alliance between ‌two rival assistant principals,played by Danny⁤ McBride and Walton Goggins.
