Janice Combs Denounces Netflix Docuseries, Calls Claims “Intentionally Misleading

Sean Combs‘ Mother Denounces Netflix Docuseries,Citing ‘Falsehoods’ and ‘Outrageous’ Allegations

janice Combs, mother of music mogul Sean⁢ combs, has issued a statement vehemently disputing claims ⁣made in the Netflix docuseries Sean⁤ Combs: The Reckoning, calling them “falsehoods” intended to mislead ⁤viewers and damage her family’s reputation. The ‌statement, provided exclusively to Deadline on December 6, directly addresses allegations of abuse and inaccuracies regarding her son’s upbringing.

The four-part docuseries, which premiered December 2, chronicles ⁣Combs’ career and recent legal troubles, including his October sentencing to four years in prison on charges related to transportation for prostitution. The controversy surrounding the series prompted Janice Combs to publicly defend her parenting and refute specific claims, aiming to set the record straight amid mounting scrutiny.

A central point of contention is an allegation‌ made by former Bad Boy records executive Kirk Burrowes, who claims Combs slapped his mother following a tragic event at City College in 1991‌ that resulted in nine deaths. Janice ⁢Combs labeled this claim “patently false” and “outrageous,” stating, “That was a very sad⁣ day for all of us.” She further accused burrowes of leveraging the‍ tragedy to advance a personal agenda related to Bad Boy records.

Janice⁤ Combs also directly addressed the series’ portrayal of her as an abusive parent, stating, “In the documentary, ⁤I‌ am portrayed ⁤as an abusive parent. This is untrue.” She‌ affirmed that she raised her⁣ son “with love and hard work, not abuse,” and highlighted his inherent drive and ambition.

Netflix has defended the production, telling Deadline earlier this week that it is “not a hit piece or an act of retribution” and that executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson does not have creative control. The streaming service‍ also stated that no participants were paid.

Janice ⁤Combs concluded her statement by demanding a public retraction of what she describes as “distortions, falsehoods, and misleading statements.” Combs, 56, is currently incarcerated at Fort Dix FCI in New Jersey.
