Joe Buck Expands Family as Broadcasting Legacy Continues
Joe Buck, the prominent sportscaster currently calling NFL games for ESPN after decades with Fox, balances a high-profile career with a full family life. Beyond following in the footsteps of his legendary broadcasting father, Jack Buck, Joe shares his life with wife Michelle Buck and their four children.
The Buck family story is rooted in sports and performance. Jack Buck, a Hall of Fame broadcaster known for his iconic calls of Cardinals baseball and NFL games, significantly shaped Joe’s career path. As Joe himself stated in 2002, “He didn’t waste one minute of one day. He packed two lifetimes into one lifetime. He went from poor to wealthy in his lifetime, yet he never changed.” Joe’s mother, Carole L. Buck, also played a crucial role, instilling a performance mindset honed through her own Broadway career and a family history in football – her father, Joe Lintzenich, played for the Chicago Bears under George Halas. “I learned as much from my mom as I did my dad – probably more from my mom,” Joe saeid before receiving the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award in 2021.
Joe and Michelle Buck have four children together: Wyatt, logan, Cassidy, and Brooklyn. Details about their children are largely kept private, reflecting the family’s desire to maintain a degree of normalcy amidst joe’s public profession.
Jack Buck’s first marriage produced a daughter, Christine Buck. Carole L. Buck, Jack’s second wife, and Joe’s mother, also had a daughter with Jack, Julie buck. Carole, born Carole Lintzenich, was an actress who appeared on Broadway in shows like “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” she uniquely prepared Joe for competitive situations, even using empty beer cans to simulate opponents during childhood football games. “I’d say, ‘Your job is to get through these people and knock them down and score a touchdown,'” Carole recounted, “And he woudl look at me and say, ‘But I like them.’ I’d say,’You are going to have to pretend you don’t like them and hit them.'”
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Joe Buck was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where his father built his broadcasting career with the Cardinals and Blues. Despite relocating for his current role with ESPN, Joe remains based in St. Louis.
