A retrospective of the work of German filmmaker Christian Petzold is currently underway at Cinema Arts Centre in Long Island, Modern York, running through March 25, 2026. The series, which began on March 4th, showcases Petzold’s films, including a recent in-person appearance by the director at Film at Lincoln Center from March 16th to March 21st.
The German Film Office, an initiative of the Goethe-Institut and German Films, is coordinating the screenings and events. Based in New York, the office works with local partners to bring German cinema to U.S. Audiences, according to the Goethe-Institut.
Alongside the retrospective, the German Film Office is also presenting “Breaking Lines,” available online through July 31, 2026. A “KINO! Film Salon” event focusing on Cologne was scheduled for March 22nd, and is being offered online. The German Film Office’s YouTube channel features the trailer for “MIROIRS NO. 3” (2026), with English subtitles, alongside other new releases and content.
On social media, the German Film Office highlighted a screening of Petzold’s “PHOENIX” on March 17th as part of the Cinema Arts Centre retrospective. A recent post on Facebook noted that 80 German productions and co-productions are currently available for viewing.
