Fred Hechinger to Lead Andrew haigh’s New Film ‘A Long Winter‘
LOS ANGELES, October 26, 2023 – Fred Hechinger is set to star in A Long winter, a new film directed and written by Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers).The project, which has been in growth for nearly a year, centers around a family search after a mother leaves home following a dispute with her husband.The film reportedly follows louise, an alcoholic mother of Mike (Hechinger) and Tommy, who departs after an argument with her husband, Lester, walking with her dog towards her brother frank’s house. A sudden snowstorm then traps the area, prompting Lester and Mike to begin a search, later joined by neighbors and law enforcement.
Hechinger’s recent work includes Preparation for the Next Life, released September 5, and has previously appeared in critically acclaimed projects such as Eighth Grade, The White Lotus, Nickel Boys, Gladiator II, and Thelma. He is also slated to appear in Michael Cera’s directorial debut, Love Is Not the Answer, alongside Pamela Anderson, Jamie Dornan, and Steve Coogan. He is represented by WME, brillstein, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.Haigh is coming off the success of all of Us Strangers, which garnered six BAFTA nominations, four Gotham Awards nominations, and three Independent Spirit Awards nominations, and earned him the Best Screenplay award from the LA film Critics Association. His previous films include Lean on Pete, 45 years, and Weekend. He also served as executive producer, writer, and director on HBO’s Looking and directed the limited series The North Water for BBC & AMC.Currently, Haigh is adapting and set to direct Leonardo da Vinci for Global, based on the Walter Isaacson book.
