Woman Injured in Violent Outbreak in Dungannon, Northern Ireland
Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland – A woman was hospitalized with a head injury after being stabbed with a screwdriver during a violent disturbance in Dungannon yesterday afternoon. Police responded to multiple reports of fighting with weapons in the Oaks Avenue area at approximately 2:25 PM, leading to the arrest of five individuals.
According to a statement released by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), four people required hospital treatment as a result of the incident. While the injuries sustained were not initially deemed life-threatening, the stabbing of the woman represents a serious escalation of the disorder.
A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.A 33-year-old woman was also arrested for grievous bodily harm, and a 31-year-old man faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and also several driving offences. Two further arrests were made at the scene, though these are related to separate, unrelated offences.
“this was a terrifying experience for neighbours and those who witnessed these events,” the PSNI statement read.Authorities are appealing for facts and specifically requesting anyone with mobile phone footage, dashcam recordings, or other visual evidence to come forward.
Police have confirmed an increased presence in the Oaks Avenue area will continue in the coming days to reassure residents and maintain order.
