Hochsauerland District Launches Dementia Awareness Event Series
The Hochsauerland District is launching “Understand. Prevent.Support.” - a series of free public events designed to educate residents about dementia, its prevention, and available support resources. Running from November 2025 to February 2026, the series will host an information event in each of the district’s municipalities as part of the “Hochsauerland Health Region – Dementia in Focus” project.
Dementia significantly impacts both those diagnosed and their families. The event series aims to provide medically sound, accessible information on the disease, including clinical aspects, diagnosis, treatment, and preventative measures to strengthen cognitive health and mitigate risk factors.
Events will be held in cooperation with local clinics and hospitals, featuring insights from neurology and geriatrics specialists. “With the series of events, we want to impart knowledge, allay fears and promote open dealings with dementia-related illnesses. As education is the best prevention,” stated Dietmar Fegler of the Hochsauerland District Health Department.
Registration is required to attend. Dates, locations, and registration details are available at www.hochsauerlandkreis.de/veranstaltung-demenz or by calling 0291 / 94 1460.
