TV presenter Davina McCall issued an apology during Friday night’s live broadcast of Comic Relief after comedian Nick Mohammed swore during a Rubik’s Cube challenge, according to reports.
Mohammed was attempting to solve eight Rubik’s Cubes within one minute when he exclaimed “oh f***” and “s***,” as reported by The Independent and The Standard. The challenge was complicated by the presence of Joe Marler, Mohammed’s former co-star on the BBC present The Celebrity Traitors, who was dressed in drag and attempting to distract him with a water pistol and feather duster.
Following the unsuccessful attempt, Mohammed arranged the cubes to spell out “sorry,” an apology to Marler for his elimination on The Celebrity Traitors. McCall then addressed viewers, stating, “Before we go any further, we just wanted to apologise if anybody heard any poor language there. It was a very high-stress situation.”
Mohammed, appearing confused, questioned whether he was the one who had used the profanities, to which McCall responded, “I’m not sure, let’s not go over it again.” The audience reportedly responded with laughter and applause, The Daily Mail reported.
The incident occurred during a show that also featured a performance by Catherine Tate as her character Nan, and sketches inspired by BBC programmes including The Traitors and Amandaland. McCall announced during the broadcast that the event had raised over £30 million (€34.5 million) for Comic Relief.
