The Illinois Small Business Development Center at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce will host “Credit 101,” a training session designed to educate individuals on the fundamentals of credit, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. To 10:30 a.m.
The session, led by Margaret Poe, Head of Consumer Credit Education at TransUnion, will cover key components of a credit score, the creation of credit reports and strategies for building and maintaining strong credit. According to event materials, the training aims to empower attendees to make informed financial decisions.
The Illinois SBDC at the Chicagoland Chamber has assisted over 600 small business owners and entrepreneurs, according to a LinkedIn post from March 18, 2026. Services offered by the SBDC include one-on-one business advising, access to capital support, business planning, and financial management.

Tickets are limited and all purchases are final, non-transferable, and non-refundable. The Illinois SBDC, established in 1984, has served over 1,063,416 businesses and helped clients secure over $3.25 billion in financing, according to the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce website.
A separate training, “Starting a Business in Illinois,” is scheduled for February 25, 2026, at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, according to a Facebook post from the Illinois SBDC at Chicagoland Chamber.
