Bax guides Falcons to Class 2 title, finishes his career as a champion | Blair Oaks

Blair⁤ Oaks Falcons football coach Chad Bax‌ capped⁣ his career ‍wiht a championship⁢ victory,leading‍ the team⁣ to a ‌28-7 win over ⁣the Lutheran North Crusaders in the ⁣Class 2 state title⁤ game on December 2,2023,at Faurot⁣ Field/Memorial⁣ Stadium in Columbia,Missouri. The ⁤win secured Blair Oaks’ second ‍state⁤ championship in⁣ program history and the first under Bax’s leadership.

Bax ‌announced his retirement prior to⁤ the season, making this victory a particularly ⁢poignant end to his ‍tenure. He finishes his coaching career as a state champion.

The Falcons’ dominant performance was fueled by ⁢a strong rushing attack ‍and⁤ a stifling defense. Running back Kolton James led the charge ‍with 148 yards and two touchdowns, earning him game MVP honors. Quarterback Brock Thompson added 88 rushing yards and⁤ a touchdown. Defensively, Blair Oaks limited Lutheran North to just seven points, effectively shutting down their offensive threats.

“It’s a dream come true,” Bax told the Jefferson City News-Tribune after the game. “To go out like this,‌ with these kids, it’s special.”

blair Oaks finished the season with a 13-1 record, ‌while‌ Lutheran​ North ⁢concluded their season at​ 12-2. The Falcons’ championship run marks a high​ point for the program and a fitting farewell for a successful coach.
