“Art, Death and Festivity 2025″ Festival Highlights Morelos‘ Cultural Identity
Cuernavaca, Morelos – November 4, 2025 - The Morelense Center for the Arts (CMA) successfully concluded its three-day “Art, death and Celebration 2025” Festival, drawing an audience of approximately 1,600 attendees. The multidisciplinary event showcased the talents of the CMA’s artistic community through dance, music, theater, and visual installations, all centered around the Day of the Dead holiday.
The festival transformed the CMA’s grounds with a vibrant visual installation created by students from the school of Visual Arts, alongside monumental cardboard sculptures. A “Gallery of the Dead” honored visual artists with a lasting impact on art history.
Performances included “Xibalba-Babalxi: The Eternal Celebration” by the Theater group, and a recital by the CMA Orchestra in the Chapel of the Third Order, featuring selections such as the “Ballet from the opera Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi. The Folkloric Dance group presented “Camposanto,” while the Contemporary Dance group offered “Mijkaljult.” Additional attractions included an art market, an exhibition of sculptural costumes, and a clown performance.
“This festival represents the essence of art as a bridge between memory and life, and an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the artistic community and Morelos society,” stated CMA Rector Pedro Mantecón Piña.
The “Art, Death and Celebration 2025” Festival underscores the CMA’s dedication to complete artistic training, the professional progress of local artists, and the promotion of art in all its forms, ultimately reinforcing the cultural identity and pride of Morelos.
