A.C.T. Auditions – San Francisco & LA – 2026-27 Season (EPA)

San Francisco, CA – Actors’ Equity Association will hold an Equity Principal Audition (EPA) for American Conservatory Theater’s (A.C.T.) 2026-27 season on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Actors’ Equity Association Los Angeles office in North Hollywood, California. The audition, running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, seeks equity actors for multiple roles across three productions: John Proctor Is The Villain, The Bad News Bears: A Musical, and The Comeuppance.

The audition requires performers to prepare either a short monologue, a short song, or a one-minute monologue with 16 bars of a song. An accompanist will be provided for song selections, and actors should bring sheet music along with a headshot and resume. A.C.T. Has affirmed its commitment to anti-racist casting practices and inclusive casting, according to the audition notice.

John Proctor Is The Villain, a co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre and Center Theatre Group, will begin rehearsals in October 2026 at A.C.T.’s Toni Rembe Theater. The production, directed by Jess McLeod, is scheduled to open in November 2026 and run through December, with a possible extension to December 13th. The play will then move to Seattle Repertory Theatre in January 2027 and Center Theatre Group in March 2027. Roles being cast include Carter Smith, a former teacher in his mid to late 30s, and several student roles – Shelby Holcomb, Beth Powell, Nell Shaw, Ivy Watkins, Raelynn Nix, Mason Adams, Lee Turner, and Bailey Gallagher as a counselor.

A.C.T. Will also premiere The Bad News Bears: A Musical, based on the 1976 motion picture, at the Toni Rembe Theater in February 2027. Directed by Sherri Eden Barber, the musical seeks actors for roles including Morris Buttermaker (the role is already cast), Amanda Wurlitzer (also cast), Karen Turner (also cast), Jim McKeever, and a range of young players including Tanner Boyle, Ahmad Abdul-Rahim, Alfred Ogilvie, Mika Engleberg, Kelly Leak, Timmy Lupus, Miguel Aguilar, Rodrigo Aguilar, and Rudi Lancaster, as well as an ensemble.

The final production announced for the audition is The Comeuppance, a co-production with Steppenwolf Theatre. Performances will begin at A.C.T. In April 2027, following a run at Steppenwolf. The production seeks actors for the roles of Emilio, Ursula, Caitlin, Kristina, and Francisco. Understudies are also being sought for several roles.

Weekly minimum salaries for the LORT Non-Rep contracts are $1233 at the Toni Rembe Theater and $831 at the Strand Theater. Local Bay Area EPAs will also be held with BerkeleyRep in early May, according to the notice. Austin Riffelmacher, Literary Manager and Casting Associate, is expected to attend the audition. Further production-specific personnel will also be present.
