Yomiyyat Rajul Mutazawwij: How This Ramadan Comedy Became a Family Favorite

The Ramadan season has concluded, marking the end of a television series that resonated deeply with audiences across the Arab world. “Diary of a Married Man,” produced by Eagle Films/Jamal Sinan, captivated viewers for thirty episodes, transforming everyday experiences into a relatable and humorous portrayal of modern family life.

The show’s success wasn’t accidental, according to producers, but a result of substantial production value and high-quality cinematography. Director Abdul Rahman Al-Salman adopted a realistic approach, allowing viewers to feel as though they were observing their own lives unfold on screen.

Central to the series’ appeal was Saudi actor Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj, who has become a fan favorite since the show’s first season. His spontaneous and witty performance, relying on situational comedy and quick improvisation, generated numerous viral clips on social media platforms. Al-Hajjaj’s comedic style, described as authentic and understated, eschewed exaggerated expressions or vulgarity.

Beyond the comedy, “Diary of a Married Man” explored social themes centered on the importance of family. The series emphasized the enduring strength of the family unit and the irreplaceable value of parents as guides and protectors. It also presented a contrast between the perceived allure of single life and the stability and peace found within a successful marriage built on understanding and affection.

Eagle Films acknowledged the collaborative effort behind the series’ success, extending gratitude to the cast, including Aida Al-Qusay, Fatima Al-Sharif, Saeed Saleh, Faisal Al-Dukhi, Nawaf Al-Shubaili, Hakim Jumaa, Faton Jarallah and Reem Safia. The company also thanked screenwriter Nawaf Al-Muhanna and the Saudi, Gulf, and Arab audiences for their viewership and support, citing them as the primary drivers of the show’s popularity.

Al-Qusay and Al-Sharif both expressed their appreciation for the experience. Al-Qusay described herself as “lucky” to have been part of the audience’s Ramadan experience and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming positive response. Al-Sharif stated, “The journey is over… but the impact remains,” calling the experience “beautiful with the most wonderful team.”

“Diary of a Married Man” aimed to serve as a reflection of Arab family life, offering both laughter and poignant observations, leaving a lasting impression that demonstrates the power of drama to connect with audiences when it respects their intelligence and emotions. The series stars Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj, Aida Al-Qusay, Fatima Al-Sharif, Saeed Saleh, Faton Jarallah, Faisal Al-Dukhi, Nawaf Al-Shubaili, Mohammed Al-Qahhtani, Hakim Jumaa, and Reem Safia. It was directed by Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Salman and produced by Eagle Films.
