K-FIXER: New Legal Noir Novel on Scandal & Power in Seoul

Seoul, South Korea – A new Kindle novel, K-FIXER The Man Who Erases Scandals, released in March 2026 by author and attorney Kosuke Onishi, delves into the world of crisis management and legal maneuvering within South Korea’s complex power structures. The book centers on Yun Taejoon, a former elite prosecutor now working as a fixer, specializing in the discreet handling of scandals involving the country’s wealthiest and most influential figures.

The narrative unfolds when Taejoon is approached with a request to cover up details surrounding the sudden death of a chaebol chairman. According to Onishi, the story quickly expands to reveal a decades-old conspiracy reaching the highest levels of government. The plot incorporates elements of investigative journalism, the actions of a young prosecutor, and the involvement of funds originating from North Korea, creating a multi-layered and unpredictable storyline.

Onishi, who studied law at Harvard University and practiced as a U.S. Attorney, describes the novel as a function of “legal fiction” aiming to portray the realities that fall outside the scope of traditional legal solutions. He stated, “The problem is, the law doesn’t solve everything. I wanted to depict how to deal with that reality.”

The book is described as blending Korean political drama with noir elements, positioning itself as a form of social commentary disguised as entertainment. The author intends to develop the story into a series and explore potential adaptations for film and television, with an eye toward a global audience.

The release of K-FIXER comes as South Korea continues to grapple with issues of corporate governance, political corruption, and the influence of powerful family-controlled conglomerates, known as chaebols. The novel’s exploration of these themes may resonate with a domestic audience familiar with these challenges.
