Online Master’s in Risk & Insurance | Butler University

Butler University’s Lacy School of Business is launching a latest cohort for its fully online Master of Science in Risk and Insurance (MSRI) program this August. The 22-month program is designed to equip students with specialized knowledge in property and casualty, employee benefits, and captive insurance operations, alongside foundational business skills typically found in an MBA curriculum.

The MSRI program, ranked No. 33 nationally among online business programs by U.S. News & World Report, aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the risk management and insurance industry. The program’s structure is cohort-based, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Students will participate in sessions led by faculty with extensive real-world experience, and network with executives from Indianapolis-based insurance firms during an on-campus experience.

According to Butler University, the program is intended to provide students with the skills necessary for rapid advancement within the industry. Nathan Logan, an alumnus of the program, stated that the MSRI program “opened doors and further sharpened my knowledge and abilities,” and likewise contributed to his earning professional designations including CRM, CPCU, and ACI.

The MSRI program is offered through Butler’s Lacy School of Business, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Interested applicants can request more information or apply directly through the university’s website. The program can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 317-940-3070.

Each new cohort will begin the program with a multi-day experience on Butler’s campus, providing access to the university’s facilities and networking opportunities.
