Patrick Sébastien: New Cabaret & 2027 Presidential Election Plans

Patrick Sébastien, the 74-year-ancient French entertainer, is transforming a historic building in La Chapelle-aux-Brocs, Corrèze, into a new cabaret venue, signaling a return to his roots after a period of professional and personal challenges.

The project, dubbed “Transformia,” represents a deliberate shift away from mainstream television and a reconnection with the intimate world of live performance that defined Sébastien’s early career. Before achieving national fame, Sébastien honed his skills in cabarets and small venues, blending humor, popular song, and a generous spirit with his audiences.

For over two decades, Sébastien hosted “Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde” (“The Greatest Cabaret in the World”) on France 2, a present that showcased a diverse array of international artists – magicians, acrobats, clowns, and jugglers – and became a staple of French Saturday night television. The show, which began airing in 1998, continues to be broadcast monthly on France 2 and TV5 Monde, according to Wikipedia.

Sébastien revealed initial images of the renovation project on his Instagram account, showcasing the building’s transformation from an empty shell to a bustling construction site. He described the venue as “the smallest cabaret in the world,” emphasizing its historical significance and the promise of a fresh start.

“Transformia” is envisioned as more than a traditional cabaret, promising a modern spectacle incorporating humor, music, magic, and performing arts. The choice of Corrèze, a region in the Limousin area of France, is deeply personal for Sébastien, representing a return to his ancestral home and a statement against cultural homogenization.

This venture comes at a complex time for Sébastien. His departure from France Télévisions, which he has publicly described as unjust, has led to strained relations with the public broadcaster. Recent scrutiny intensified with a critical portrait aired on the investigative journalism program “Complément d’enquête,” which Sébastien claimed presented a biased and inaccurate portrayal of events.

Adding to the challenges, Sébastien is currently the subject of a preliminary investigation by the Béziers prosecutor’s office following a performance at a naturist campsite in Cap d’Agde in 2025. The investigation, also highlighted by “Complément d’enquête,” centers on a filmed scene where a member of the audience appeared to mimic a sexual act during the show. French law classifies such acts as potentially punishable offenses. The incident involved interaction with the audience and was presented within a humorous context, but sparked public debate and legal review.

The cabaret project, can be seen as a strategic move to reassert control over his public image and reconnect directly with his audience, bypassing the filters of television and media controversy. Sébastien aims to recapture the festive and inclusive spirit that characterized his earlier perform.

Throughout his career, Sébastien has been a popular entertainer, with shows like “Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde” and “Les Années Bonheur” (“The Happy Years”) attracting large audiences. With “Transformia,” he intends to embark on a new artistic chapter, creating an intimate space in Corrèze where audiences can gather, enjoy, and be surprised.
