Modern ORLEANS, La. — Blake Adams Jr., a New Orleans-area college student, has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship by Dudley DeBosier Injury Lawyers for his persuasive message promoting responsible driving. The award was presented as part of the firm’s 2026 “For the Future” Scholarship program, which aims to combat distracted driving among young drivers.
Adams, a sophomore at an unnamed university majoring in accounting, earned the “Most Persuasive” award for a video and accompanying essay emphasizing personal accountability on the road. His function highlighted the importance of avoiding distractions, abstaining from driving under the influence, and intervening when friends engage in unsafe driving behaviors.
“This recognition holds deep significance for me given that it shows that my voice can genuinely influence young drivers and encourage safer choices on the roads,” Adams said in a statement released by the law firm. “Winning this scholarship reinforces that my efforts to raise awareness about this widespread issue truly matter.”
The “For the Future” Scholarship program challenges Louisiana high school and college students to create original videos advocating against texting and driving. Applicants are also required to submit an essay detailing the importance of road safety and the potential for their generation to effect positive change.

The scholarship program distributes a total of $8,000 annually to four students. In addition to Adams’s $1,500 award, the program also grants a $4,444 Grand Prize, a $1,500 “Most Creative” award, and a $1,000 “People’s Choice” award. All scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipients or their educational institutions to cover tuition and related expenses.
