AMC Theatres Launches $29.99 Annual Popcorn Pass, Offering 50% Discount
AMC Theatres is introducing a new annual pass that provides Stubs loyalty program members with a 50 percent discount on large popcorn purchases every day. The AMC Popcorn Pass costs $29.99 per year, before taxes, and includes the existing Stubs benefit of one free refill daily.
The pass launches on Cyber Monday, december 1, coinciding with a busy box office period featuring releases like Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2, Five Night’s at Freddy’s, the new SpongeBob movie, and Avatar: fire and Ash. The discount is valid through December 31, 2026, at all AMC locations nationwide. Joining the basic tier of Stubs is free.
Popcorn remains the most popular concession item, even as AMC has expanded its menu. In some locations,a large popcorn can cost as much as $11.99, comparable to the price of other food options like chicken tenders or pizza.
“The AMC Popcorn Pass makes it easier than ever for guests to enjoy the treat they love each time they visit,” said Carrie Trotter, senior vp of marketing for AMC, in a statement.”From families making memories to movie fans who never miss a blockbuster, this new offering delivers incredible value and adds even more enjoyment to every trip to the movies.”
The pass can be purchased at any time, but the discount applies to in-theater purchases only and is not valid for mobile orders. Passholders must use the pass themselves and present a photo ID for verification.
The AMC Popcorn Pass replaces the previous AMC CLASSICS Annual Bucket promotion, which offered savings on a popcorn bucket and a same-day refill, but was limited to AMC CLASSICS locations-theatres offering a more affordable experience previously operated by Carmike Cinemas. There are currently no AMC CLASSICS locations in California.
AMC reports that tens of millions of guests have signed up for the AMC Stubs program, which offers various membership options beyond the free tier.
