Renfe Launches Campaign Highlighting Spain as a “Movie Destination”
Madrid, Spain – Renfe, Spain’s national rail operator, is launching a new campaign promoting travel to locations featured in films and series, capitalizing on the growing trend of “film tourism.” The initiative underscores Renfe’s extensive network, reaching diverse destinations across Spain - even those beyond traditionally popular tourist hotspots – through its varied transportation options.
the campaign builds on Renfe’s established relationships within the Spanish film industry, including its sponsorship of events like the Sitges and San Sebastián film festivals, and the Goya Awards. Renfe is also a sponsor of Fotogramas’ annual calendar, a partnership spanning at least two years.
This strategy aligns with a broader global trend, with destinations like the United Kingdom – through its “Great Britain Protagonist” campaign – and New Zealand actively leveraging film and television to attract visitors. New zealand has even integrated a playable Minecraft experience to promote locations featured in film.
