2025 Buff & Blue Fund Challenge Posts Second Best Year in History
George Washington University’s annual Buff & Blue Fund challenge concluded with resounding success, securing the second-highest fundraising total in its history. The initiative, fueled by widespread donor participation, will directly benefit all GWU athletic programs, enhancing resources and opportunities for student-athletes.
The challenge’s impact extends beyond immediate financial gains, fostering a stronger sense of community among alumni, students, and supporters. Generous contributions, including meaningful funding from 1732 Circle member and wrestling alumnus Rich DiPippo, BA ’79, were distributed among teams recognized across four competitive categories. “I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity shown during this year’s Buff & blue Fund Challenge,” DiPippo said. “The impact of this historic support will be felt across all our teams – it truly makes a difference. Thank you to everyone who gave. with continued support from our community, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish together. Raise High!”
Competition was fierce across the categories. Baseball emerged as a dominant force, claiming first place in both “Most Donors” and “Most Improved on Total Donors from Last year,” and a second-place finish in “Most Dollars.” Men’s Basketball secured the top spot in “Most Dollars,” while Lacrosse finished second in “Most Donors.” Water Polo led in ”Highest Former Student-Athlete Participation,” followed closely by Gymnastics. Women’s Basketball took second place in “Most Improved on Total Donors from Last Year.”
For those who missed the possibility to contribute during the challenge period, donations are still being accepted at go.gwu.edu/give2athletics. Continued support will be instrumental in sustaining the momentum generated by this year’s triumphant fundraising effort and furthering the ambitions of GWU Athletics.
