Vienna – ORF 1 premieres “sargnagel,” a film offering an intimate portrayal of Austrian author Stefanie Sargnagel, directed by Sabine Hiebler and Gerhard Ertl. The film debuts on ORF 1,offering viewers a glimpse into Sargnagel’s life navigating precarity,performance art,and community engagement.
“Sargnagel” doesn’t present a conventional biography, but rather a series of status reports directly from the author herself, capturing her experiences between literary stages and local Viennese “Beisl” establishments. The film features performances by Stefanie Sargnagel, alongside Hilde Dalik (as Mercedes) and Voodoo Jürgens, with Veronica Kaup-Hasler portraying a caretaker.
Hiebler and ertl also co-wrote the script. The production credits list ORF, Goldengirls Filmproduktion, and Filmladen as key partners.The film is described as showcasing Sargnagel as ”the voice of her generation,” grappling with the challenges of creative expression and modern life.
