ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Bowie State University women’s volleyball team competed valiantly but suffered a 3-0 defeat against Nova Southeastern University on Thursday evening at the McArthur Center. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-8 on the season, while Nova Southeastern improves to 6-2.
Despite the setback, Bowie State demonstrated competitive spirit against a strong opponent, battling in each set and showcasing promising individual performances.This contest served as an early-season test for the Bulldogs as they navigate a challenging schedule and prepare for conference play within the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Nova Southeastern established control early, winning the first set 25-14. bowie State responded with key points from Madyson brinson, Lyric Snowden, and Nicole taylor, but the Sharks maintained their advantage. The second set saw the Bulldogs mount a stronger challenge, fueled by a kill from Nina Edwards and combined efforts from Snowden and Nadira Avery, including a service ace from Snowden. However, Nova Southeastern closed out the set 25-19.
The third set began with a 4-0 deficit for Bowie State, but the bulldogs fought back with kills from Taylor and Avery, alongside a block from Brinson and Trinity Loundmon. Snowden added another ace, keeping the match within reach, but Nova Southeastern ultimately secured the set 25-15 and the match victory.
