WV Man Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Possession, Faces Prison Time

A Wyoming County man has pleaded guilty to a drug charge in Kanawha County, West Virginia, and now faces the possibility of significant prison time, according to a release from the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Jonathan Dean Workman, 39, of Oceana, West Virginia, entered a guilty plea on Wednesday for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. The charge stems from an incident in April 2024, when a South Charleston police officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 119 and Songer Lane for an unspecified traffic violation.

During the stop, authorities allege Workman was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Prosecutors have not released details regarding the quantity of the drug seized.

Workman is scheduled to be sentenced on May 4. He faces a potential prison sentence ranging from one to fifteen years.

This case follows a similar incident in South Charleston where a traffic stop led to a drug conviction, according to reports. Another Wyoming County man recently pleaded guilty to a drug charge in Kanawha County, though details of that case were not immediately available.
