Hanoi, Vietnam - The Vietnam Boxing Federation is offering substantial rewards to its athletes competing at the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Thailand, demonstrating strong support ahead of the regional competition. The team is scheduled to depart for Thailand on December 8th.
The Vietnamese boxing team,led by coaches Nguyen Nhu Cuong,Huynh Viet Khanh,and Pham Thanh Hai,will consist of Ha Thi Linh,Vo Thi Kim Anh,Hoang Thi Ngoc Mai,Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi,nguyen Huyen Tran,Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran,Nguyen Minh Cuong,Nguyen Van Duong,Nguyen Ngoc Linh,linh Phung,Bui Phuoc Tung,Tran Quang Loc,Nguyen Manh Cuong,and Nguyen Duc Ngoc.
the Federation aims for at least one gold medal at the Games, despite acknowledging the strong boxing tradition of host nation thailand. At the previous SEA Games in Cambodia two years ago, the Vietnamese boxing team secured two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
To incentivize performance, the Vietnam Boxing Federation will award $1,000 USD for each gold medal, $300 USD for a silver medal, and 5 million Vietnamese Dong (VND) for a bronze medal.
Additional bonuses have been pledged by individuals: Vu Duc Tinh, former director of the boxing department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Sports and Physical Training, will contribute $500 USD per gold medal, while Truong Dinh Hoang, a former athlete from TDH Boxing Club, will provide VND 10 million per gold medal.
Combined,a gold medal win will result in a total bonus of $1,500 USD and VND 10 million,equivalent to VND 49.5 million.
