UP Man Brutally Killed by In-Laws Over Inter-Caste Marriage | Lucknow Crime News

A 30-year-old man, Vishnu Yadav, was beaten to death by his in-laws at their residence in Lucknow, India, on March 17, according to police reports released Thursday.

The attack unfolded in the Aashiana area of Lucknow, where Vishnu Yadav was allegedly assaulted by his father-in-law, Tirthraj Singh, mother-in-law, Saroj Devi, and four sisters-in-law – Radha Singh, Ratna Singh, Jyoti Singh, and Vidhi Singh – while his wife, Sakshi Singh, was held captive. Police stated that Sakshi was tied up and gagged during the assault.

Investigators say the motive stemmed from the couple’s marriage four years ago, which occurred against the wishes of Sakshi’s family. According to police statements, the in-laws intended to “teach Vishnu a lesson” for marrying Sakshi against their approval. The family had reportedly harbored resentment towards Vishnu since the wedding.

Sakshi Singh, after being rescued by police, told investigators that her father, mother, and sisters jointly carried out the brutal attack. Police arrived at the scene following a call to the Dial 112 emergency number and discovered Vishnu Yadav’s body. Sakshi was found bound and injured.

A postmortem examination revealed Vishnu Yadav sustained 20 ante-mortem injuries, including 16 to the skull. The injuries included lacerations, contusions, abrasions, skull fractures, and intracranial haemorrhage. The cause of death was determined to be shock and haemorrhage resulting from severe head trauma caused by repeated blows with blunt objects, according to investigators.

Six family members – Tirthraj Singh, Saroj Devi, Radha Singh, Ratna Singh, Jyoti Singh, and Vidhi Singh – have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police recovered blood-stained wooden planks and an iron rod believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.

The victim’s father, Chedilal Yadav, filed a complaint alleging that his son had faced frequent threats of abuse, assault, and death from his in-laws since the marriage. Vishnu and Sakshi had travelled to Sakshi’s parental home in Lucknow on March 15.

Vishnu Yadav’s family is demanding the death penalty for the accused. “What was done to Vishnu is beyond cruelty. We want nothing less than the death penalty,” said Vishnu’s brother, Rohit Yadav. His father, Chhedilal Yadav, echoed this sentiment, stating that justice would only be served through capital punishment.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses.
