Ukraine Claims Prosperous Counteroffensive Trapped Russian Forces Near Pokrovsk
Kyiv reports inflicting significant losses on Russian forces in a recent counteroffensive operation near Pokrovsk, claiming to have lured and “destroyed” elements of the invading army. According to ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the operation successfully trapped Russian troops, resulting in substantial casualties and equipment losses.
The reported success comes as Russia increasingly relies on small-unit tactics – deploying groups of four to six soldiers to disrupt Ukrainian logistics and exert pressure – amid ongoing conflict. The Ukrainian claim of a successful counteroffensive and heavy Russian losses underscores the continued intensity of fighting in eastern ukraine and the evolving strategies employed by both sides.
United24 Media cited the 60-year-old Syrskyi regarding the operation.
