COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force volleyball prepares for a challenging week of Mountain West Conference rematches, traveling to Fort collins to face Colorado State on Wednesday, Oct. 23, before heading to Reno for a Saturday, Oct. 26, contest against Nevada.
The Falcons and Rams recently met on Oct. 16 at the Academy, with Colorado State securing a 3-1 victory (25-14, 25-27, 25-21, 25-20). Air Force holds a 2-61 all-time record against Colorado State, with its last win coming on the Rams’ home court in 2020.
Following the Colorado state match, Air Force will travel to Virginia Street Gym to take on Nevada. The Falcons improved to 15-12 all-time against the Wolf Pack with a conference-opening sweep in September. Air Force is 6-6 all-time at Virginia Street Gym, with its last win occurring in 2023.
Air Force assistant coach Deedra Walker (formerly Foss) returns to Colorado State, where she was a two-time All-America setter. Walker led the Rams to four consecutive conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen run in 2014, and was inducted into the Colorado State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
Currently, Alex Hatchett leads the Mountain West in hitting percentage during conference play with a .424 average. Jordan Suan ranks second in digs (4.38), while Mia Lloyd and Grace fiaseu are third in assists (8.11) and blocks (1.45), respectively. as a team, Air Force leads the league in digs (16.03) and ranks within the top five in opponent hitting percentage (.195, fourth) and blocking (2.45, fifth).
The Falcons recently hosted over 20 alumni during thier annual Alumni Weekend on Oct.18. The 25-14 frist-set win over Colorado State on oct. 16 was the fewest points Air force has allowed the Rams in a set as the rally scoring era began in 2001, surpassing the previous low of 16 points allowed in 2022.
following the Nevada match, Air Force will continue its road trip with contests at Grand Canyon on Thursday, Oct. 30, and New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 1.
