Sydney Opera House: Iconic Harbour Views & Photos

The Sydney Opera House will host a free dance event, DanceRites 2024, transforming its Forecourt into a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, uniting hundreds of performers. The event, which took place in 2024, is mentioned alongside a schedule of upcoming events for 2026, including performances of “Phantom of the Opera” from March 27 to May 3 and “Pride & Prejudice (sort of)” from July 16 to August 30.

Currently, the Opera House offers daily guided tours in multiple languages, including English, Mandarin, Korean, and Japanese, as well as specialized tours focusing on mobility access, backstage access, and architecture. French and Spanish guided tours are also available on specific days of the week. A range of experiences are available, including “Tour & Dine” options.

The Opera House’s 2026 season includes a performance by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, a contemporary music performance by Current Joys on May 24, and an evening with Fran Lebowitz on May 19. The theatre will also host “Julius Caesar” from March 7 to April 5, and “GATSBY At The Green Light” will continue its run through March 29. A workshop, the Architecture Club, is scheduled from March 28 to May 16. New Zealand singer-songwriter Marlon Williams recently performed at the Opera House, showcasing music from his Māori language album.

The Sydney Opera House, a multi-venue performing arts centre located on Bennelong Point, was completed in 1973 at a cost of A$102 million (equivalent to A$1082 million in 2022). Designed by Jørn Utzon and Ove Arup & Partners, the building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an Australian National Heritage List site. It currently houses the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Bell Shakespeare, Opera Australia, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Theatre Company, and The Australian Ballet as resident companies.

The Opera House prioritizes health and wellbeing, implementing regular cleaning, enhanced ventilation, and hand sanitiser stations. Authorities are advising anyone feeling unwell to stay home, and the Box Office is available at 02 9250 7777 for ticketing inquiries.
