California High school Football Standouts Shine in week of Dominant Performances
VALENCIA, CA – Sept. 30, 2025 – A wave of exceptional performances swept across california high school football fields this past week, with players delivering standout performances in passing, rushing, receiving, and defense. Several athletes have emerged as top contenders for state player of the week honors.
Offensive Powerhouses:
* Brady Bretthauer (Valencia) showcased a dual-threat attack,passing for 238 yards and five touchdowns while adding 100 rushing yards and two more scores.
* Keyshawn Wooten (Canyon, Canyon Country) dominated on the ground, rushing for 326 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 victory over Castaic.
* Bryan Bullock (Washington, Fremont) achieved perfection, completing all 10 pass attempts for 328 yards and six touchdowns, leading Washington to a 48-20 win over American.
* Michael Mitchell Jr. (Riordan, San Francisco) threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns in RiordanS first win at St. Francis of Mountain View since 1971.
* Jayden Duarte (Alisal, Salinas) set a school record with 339 rushing yards and five touchdowns in a 62-40 win over Monterey.
* Matthew Medina (sebastopol Analy) overcame an early interception, responding with a seven-touchdown performance in a win over Kimball of Tracy.
* Aldo Rodriguez (Woodlake) accounted for six touchdowns – five passing for 369 yards and one rushing for 59 yards - in a 63-6 victory over Corcoran.
* Jayden najera (Golden West, Visalia) achieved a career-high 417 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 39-3 win over Tehachapi.
* Malachi Davis (McFarland) amassed 571 total yards (407 passing, 164 rushing) and three passing touchdowns, despite a 34-27 loss to Mendota.
Defensive Standouts:
* Derrick Johnson II (Murrieta Valley, Murietta) recorded two interceptions in a win over San Clemente.
* Thomas Jones (Long Beach Wilson) also had two interceptions in a win over Long Beach Millikan.
* Kingston Sula (Carson) led the defense with eight tackles, including four sacks, in a win over St. Pius X-St. Matthias of Downey.
Special Teams Brilliance:
* La’Brenten Wilson (Cerritos) made a game-changing play with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown in a win over Hacienda Heights Wilson.
* Jacob Kerekes (South Torrance) contributed substantially on offense with 13 receptions for 262 yards and two touchdowns.
* Dominic marini (Christopher, Gilroy) anchored the defense with 10 tackles, two for losses, four QB pressures, and a sack in a 28-6 win against San Jose Overfelt.
