Schlotterbeck-Verlängerung beim BVB rückt näher | News

Borussia Dortmund is nearing an agreement to extend the contract of German international defender Nico Schlotterbeck, according to reports emerging from Germany on Thursday.

The 26-year-old centre-back, who joined Dortmund in 2022, has become a key figure in the team’s defense. Schlotterbeck’s current contract is set to expire in June 2027, but the club is keen to secure his future beyond that date, recognizing his importance to their ambitions.

Schlotterbeck has made 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in the current Bundesliga season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. He has won 46 aerial duels and completed 20 tackles, demonstrating his effectiveness both defensively and in contributing to attacking phases of play. His recent performances have solidified his position as a vital component of Edin Terzić’s squad.

The defender’s value to Dortmund is reflected in his current market value of €55 million, according to Transfermarkt. He has as well been a regular feature in the Germany national team, earning 23 caps since his debut in 2022.

Schlotterbeck’s brother, Keven Schlotterbeck, plays for FC Augsburg and the pair recently faced off as captains in a Bundesliga match on March 14th, a game Dortmund won 2-0. Nico Schlotterbeck also recently received recognition as March Player of the Month in 2025.

Negotiations are reportedly progressing well, with both parties optimistic about reaching a final agreement in the coming weeks. Whereas details of the proposed extension remain confidential, it is understood that the recent contract will include an improved salary and potentially a longer duration. Dortmund’s sporting director has not yet commented publicly on the ongoing negotiations.
