Saints Rookie Kendre Miller Tops NFL in Elusive Rating
New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller is making an immediate impact, leading all NFL running backs with a Pro Football Focus “elusive rating” of 155.8 through the first four games of the season. The TCU product has quickly established himself as a key component of the Saints’ offensive attack, providing a dynamic complement to veteran Alvin Kamara.
MillerS success isn’t simply about volume; he’s consistently making defenders miss. In 28 carries, he’s forced 12 missed tackles and gained 104 of his 124 rushing yards after initial contact, demonstrating a remarkable ability to break free and extend plays. This efficiency is particularly noteworthy as the Saints look to establish a consistent running game and alleviate pressure on quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Following Sunday’s 31-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Miller highlighted the team’s strategic focus on exploiting a Bills defense statistically vulnerable against the run. “Statistically, on the stat sheet, you know, Buffalo struggles against the run,” Miller said.”so, we made an emphasis like, ‘Oh, yeah. We’ve got to run the ball.’ We just got it going early, and when I got in there, we were just rolling, me and AK (Kamara). It really worked out.So hopefully, going forward,it can stay the same.”
Miller, now in his third year, has solidified his role as Kamara’s primary backup, and his ability to create yards after contact offers a different dimension to the Saints’ rushing attack. The Saints will look to continue leveraging Miller’s skillset as they navigate a competitive NFC south.
