Tickets are currently on sale for the Royal Ballet’s upcoming production of “Giselle,” according to a recent post from NBS Japan.
The production, scheduled for July 2026, will feature choreography by Frederick Ashton and Peter Wright. The Royal Ballet’s 2026 Japan tour will include performances at the Kawaguchi Comprehensive Cultural Center and the NHK Hall, as detailed on the NBS Japan website.
Notably, the New National Theatre Ballet also presented a production of “Giselle” in London in July 2025, marking the company’s debut at the Royal Opera House. That production, directed by artistic director Yuki Hasegawa, featured staging and revised choreography by Alastair Marriott and set and costume design by Dick Bird. The New National Theatre Ballet’s London performance was the company’s first self-organized overseas production, according to the theatre’s website.
The New National Theatre Ballet’s 2025 London cast included Mizawa Yui and Izawa Shun, as well as Ono Ayako and Fukuoka Yuta, among others. A note.com post detailing the London production highlighted the influence of Lithuania’s “Hill of Crosses” on Bird’s set design, creating a unique visual world for the ballet.
The Royal Ballet’s July 2026 performances in Japan will be accompanied by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, with Martin Georgiev conducting. High-profile dancers such as Takada Akane and Cesar Corales are scheduled to perform, though the official cast schedule is available on the Royal Ballet’s website.
The New National Theatre Ballet’s 2022 production of “Giselle” was also directed by Yuki Hasegawa, and the 2025 London production built upon that foundation.
