Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan has lauded Aditya Dhar’s recently released film, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” calling it a “historic” achievement and a catalyst for a “revolution” in Indian cinema. Roshan shared his praise in an Instagram post, urging filmmakers to “pause and reset the fabric of cinema” with the same “vision, passion and audacity” demonstrated by Dhar.
“I just watched ADITYA DHAR’S HISTORIC DHURANDHAR, and it is a reminder to all of us filmmakers to pause and reset the fabric of cinema with the vision, passion and audacity with which Aditya has made Dhurandhar,” Roshan wrote. “He has started a new era in filmmaking! This should not be considered as a threat, but a healthy and much needed revolution in storytelling and entertainment.”
The post garnered support from fellow director Siddharth Malhotra, known for “We Are Family,” who commented, “So so so agree sir ❤️❤️ I hope actors too learn to stop following trends and film makers also start believing in scripts and conviction 🙌 ❤️ inspiring this is for everyone.”
“Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” starring Ranveer Singh, premiered on March 19 and has quickly become a subject of intense discussion, with viral scenes circulating online. Despite facing criticism and accusations of promoting a particular political agenda, the film is reportedly performing strongly at the box office.
The film has also received praise from several other prominent figures in the Indian film industry. Director Mahesh Babu described the film as “an explosion executed with perfect precision!!!! The finest version of Ranveer unleashed and how… 💥💥💥” He further commended Dhar’s direction and Shashwat Sachdev’s music, calling it “a film meant to be experienced and celebrated.”
Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Ram Gopal Varma are among other celebrities who have publicly praised “Dhurandhar 2.” Ram Charan called the film “remarkable” and specifically highlighted Ranveer Singh’s performance, according to reports from India Today.
The film’s runtime varies depending on the language version, with the Tamil and Telugu versions being longer than the original Hindi release, according to The Times of India. However, the film was released without any cuts, despite potential concerns.
