BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 4 University of Texas Beach Volleyball team swept both of its opponents Friday at the Death Volley Invitational, defeating No. 12 LSU and No. 10 Arizona State at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium. The Longhorns improved to 12-4 on the season, with 11 of those victories coming against ranked teams.
Texas began the day with a 5-0 victory over LSU. The dual was clinched on Court 2, where Emma Grace Robertson and Lily Davis secured a 21-17, 21-16 win. Devin Kahahawai, making her season debut, partnered with Chloe Charles on Court 3 to earn a 21-17, 21-14, 11-15 victory. Other Texas wins included Brecht Piersma and Katie Hashman at No. 1 (18-21, 21-18, 15-9), Ella Keeven and Macey Butler at No. 4 (21-11, 21-19), and Vivian Johnson and Karin Zolnercikova at No. 5 (16-21, 21-13, 15-6).
Later in the day, Texas continued its winning streak with another 5-0 sweep, this time against Arizona State. The deciding point came on Court 3, where Macey Butler and Devin Kahahawai battled to a 19-21, 21-13, 15-13 win. Katie Hashman and Brecht Piersma secured a win at No. 1 (21-18, 21-15), while Emma Grace Robertson and Lily Davis prevailed at No. 2 (21-13, 21-15). Eva Liisa Kuivonen and Chloe Charles won at No. 4 (21-10, 18-21, 15-9), and Noa Sonneville and Karin Zolnercikova completed the sweep at No. 5 (18-21, 21-18, 15-10).
Throughout the 2026 season, Texas has utilized 17 different pairs combinations, demonstrating the team’s depth and versatility.
The Longhorns will continue play at the Death Volley Invitational on Saturday, March 21, with matches scheduled against No. 16 Grand Canyon at 10:30 a.m. CT and No. 9 California at 3 p.m. CT.
