NJPW New Japan Cup Finals: Newman vs. Uemura, Title Defense & Full Match Card

Aore Nagaoka will host the finals of the New Japan Cup today, as Callum Newman and Yuya Uemura vie for a championship opportunity against Yota Tsuji and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis.

Newman advanced to the final after defeating Shota Umino in the semi-finals on March 20th, while Uemura secured his place with a victory over Boltn Oleg on the same night, according to Pro Wrestling Dot Net.

The event will as well feature Konosuke Takeshita defending the NJPW World TV title against an as-yet-unnamed opponent. Several multi-person tag team matches are also scheduled.

The full card includes Yota Tsuji, OSKAR, Yuto-Ice & Daiki Nagai facing off against Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, Kosei Fujita & Hartley Jackson. Oleg Boltin, Toru Yano & Aaron Wolf will battle Ren Narita, Don Fale & Dick Togo. Shingo Takagi, Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori are set to compete against Jake Lee, Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young. Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma will take on HENARE & Great-O-Khan. YOH, Master Wato & Ryusuke Taguchi will face DOUKI, SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Tatsuya Matsumoto will compete against Taichi, Satoshi Kojima & El Desperado. Finally, Masatora Yasuda will go one-on-one with Taisei Nakahara.

Live coverage of the New Japan Cup finals is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Japan Standard Time, as reported by Sports Illustrated, with Yuya Uemura aiming to capitalize on momentum described as “raising his value” in the tournament.
