Search efforts continued Friday for a 16-year-old boy who went missing in Bergen, Norway, after last being seen Thursday afternoon, authorities said. The boy, a resident of an institution requiring twice-daily medication, was last observed in the Sandviken area of the city.
Police, the Norwegian Red Cross, and Norwegian Search Dogs have been involved in the search, utilizing drones, vehicles, and foot patrols throughout the night, according to a statement from Vest politidistrikt (Vest Police District). The search expanded to include areas around Loddefjord and near the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) following initial leads, but has so far yielded no results.
The missing teenager is described as approximately 175 to 180 centimeters tall, with a slim build and blond, curly hair. He was last seen wearing a black and white cap and a black bubble jacket.
“We continue the search throughout Friday and will call out volunteer crews again,” said operations leader Knut Dahl-Michelsen in a statement. Police are requesting that anyone with information regarding the boy’s whereabouts contact them at 02800.
The Bærum Red Cross, located in Sandvika, is prepared to offer assistance in search and rescue operations, and maintains a reception desk open from 9:00 to 15:00 on weekdays. The organization provides training for volunteers, including first aid and psychosocial first aid, as well as heart starter courses.
