Manchester United Faces Mounting Pressure After Brentford Defeat, Amorim Vows to Fight On
Manchester, England – Manchester United’s struggles continued Saturday with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Brentford, intensifying scrutiny on manager Ruben Amorim and leaving the club in 14th place in the Premier League standings. Despite the setback and growing criticism, Amorim maintains he is focused on improving the team’s performance.
Under Amorim’s leadership, United has secured just 34 points from 33 matches, and has yet to achieve consecutive victories. The defeat has prompted questions from the British media regarding his future at the club.
“I am never worried about my job. I am not like that,” Amorim told the BBC. ”It’s not my decision. I will do my best every minute that I am here.”
Amorim acknowledged his team’s shortcomings in the match, stating they allowed Brentford to dictate the play. “That was realy confusing and all crucial moments fell to their advantage,” he explained to TNT Sports. He specifically pointed to Brentford’s success with long balls, a tactic United had prepared for. “The frist goal was a long ball, we trained on that all week… Just like on standard situations. We knew that the long ball is their weapon and yet they got the chance. We have to do better.”
The Portuguese manager further emphasized the need for United to establish its own identity on the pitch.”We didn’t play our game today,” he said. “We had some times control over the game, but it was more or less the same. We have to play our own game, not that of the opponent. They were better at that.”
Acknowledging the certain increase in pressure following such a defeat at a club of United’s stature, Amorim conceded, “That does not change and is also logical if you lose this way. It hurts a lot, but we have to move on to the next game.”
