Mama Grande Tortilla Recall: Undeclared Wheat & Soy Allergens

A Texas-based tortilla manufacturer is voluntarily recalling two of its products after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was alerted to undeclared allergens. Mama Grande Tortilla Factory of Mission, Texas, announced the recall of its Gorditas de Azucar and Doraditas de Azucar, citing the potential presence of wheat and soy, both common allergens not listed on the product packaging.

The recall was initiated due to a labeling oversight, according to the company. The presence of wheat and soy poses a risk to individuals with allergies to those ingredients, potentially causing “life-threatening reactions,” as reported by Newsweek.

The Food Poisoning Bulletin reported that the products were distributed in Texas, but the specific retail locations impacted by the recall have not been disclosed. The FDA has been notified of the recall, and the company is cooperating with the agency to ensure consumer safety.

Consumers who have purchased Gorditas de Azucar or Doraditas de Azucar manufactured by Mama Grande Tortilla Factory and have a wheat or soy allergy are advised to discontinue use immediately. The company has not announced details regarding refunds or exchanges.

As of Thursday, March 19, 2026, the FDA has not issued a public statement beyond acknowledging the company’s announcement. Further information regarding the scope of the recall and specific product details can be found through the FDA website and updates from Mama Grande Tortilla Factory.
