Luke Littler secured a stunning victory in the Premier League Darts in Dublin on Thursday night, completing a remarkable comeback from 5-0 down to defeat Gerwyn Price 6-5 in a last-leg decider. The win marks Littler’s first in Dublin and elevates him to second place in the league standings.
Littler began the night with a confident 6-3 win over Stephen Bunting, achieving an average of 105. He then faced a formidable challenge in the form of Gerwyn Price, who had earlier dispatched Josh Rock 6-0 and secured a 6-1 victory against Luke Humphries.
The final against Price appeared to be slipping away quickly, as the Welshman established a commanding 5-0 lead. However, Littler sparked a dramatic turnaround after finally registering a leg, celebrating with a gesture to the crowd. This shift in momentum saw Price struggle to close out the match, squandering five match darts.
The match ultimately went to a final-leg shootout, which Littler clinched by taking out 81 on double 15. “I have no idea how I have done that,” Littler told Sky Sports after the match. “I was gone, but after getting my first leg, I had a bit of fun and waved him goodbye, because when Gerwyn Price is on double top, he doesn’t usually miss.” He added, “I was so gone I may as well have been off the stage, but this is darts, things happen.”
Luke Humphries, despite losing to Price in the semi-final, had earlier defeated Jonny Clayton 6-3, avenging his 6-1 defeat by the Welshman the previous week in Nottingham. Clayton had been hampered by gout during that earlier match.
Gian van Veen was forced to withdraw from his match against Michael van Gerwen due to a medical issue, receiving hospital treatment after being diagnosed with kidney stones. This gave van Gerwen a bye to the semi-finals.
With the win, Littler moves to 16 points in the Premier League Darts table, trailing leader Jonny Clayton by three points. Price remains in third position.
