Andrea Reggiani has been appointed head of motorsport at Lamborghini, the Italian automaker announced today. He succeeds Maurizio Leschiutta, who left the Volkswagen Group-owned brand at the finish of December after a one-year tenure.
Reggiani joins Lamborghini after roles at Ferrari and Dallara. At Ferrari, beginning in 2008, he progressed from a marketing position in Asia and China to head of Corse Clienti in the Asia-Pacific region, overseeing the company’s customer racing programs. He later managed Ferrari’s motorsport operations in North America, including the Ferrari Challenge series. Most recently, he served as chief commercial officer of the Stradale project at Dallara, the company’s first road-legal vehicle, since 2018.
“It is a true honor to join Lamborghini as head of Motorsport,” Reggiani said in a statement. “I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and proud to join a company with such extraordinary heritage and that represents passion, performance and bold innovation at the highest level. Together with the talented people who make Lamborghini unique, I look forward to building on this strong foundation and help writing the next chapter in our racing history, striving for new milestones that will excite our clients, our partners and our fans around the world.”
Reggiani’s arrival coincides with a period of transition within Lamborghini’s motorsport division. Racing development manager Stefan Gugger is scheduled to depart at the end of April, following his work on the Temerario GT3, which is set to compete in the Sebring 12 Hours this Saturday. Lamborghini’s chief technical officer, Rouven Mohr, had been overseeing the motorsport division on an interim basis following Leschiutta’s departure, but recently took on a role as a board member and technical director at Audi, with a successor at Lamborghini yet to be named.
The changes extend beyond these recent departures. In recent years, Lamborghini has also parted ways with long-time racing director Leonardo Galante and motorsport boss Giorgio Sanna.
Reggiani will lead Lamborghini’s Temerario GT3 program and oversee the development of the Temerario Super Trofeo car, scheduled for introduction in 2027. The Super Trofeo series, held across Europe, Asia, and North America, is a key revenue generator for Lamborghini’s motorsport activities.
Maurizio Reggiani, currently vice president of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, began his automotive career at Maserati in 1982, eventually leading their engine development department. He then moved to Bugatti in 1987, overseeing the engine, gearbox, and transmission development of the EB110. He joined Lamborghini in 1995, leading the development of the Murciélago and later heading powertrain and suspension research and development, according to information available from Wikipedia.
