Jodie Sweetin Offers Advice to ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ Newcomer Danielle Fishel
Ahead of the season 34 premiere of Dancing with the Stars, former contestant Jodie Sweetin is sharing a surprising piece of advice with newcomer Danielle Fishel: prepare for a mental shift beyond just learning the choreography. Sweetin, who competed on season 22 of the show, cautioned Fishel that the costumes can unexpectedly impact performance confidence.
“It’s funny, when your in rehearsals, you’re just in gym clothes, all of the sudden [the costume] makes it a little bit different,” Sweetin revealed. This insight comes as Fishel prepares to navigate the demanding world of ballroom dancing, where both technical skill and presentation are crucial. The premiere of Dancing with the stars season 34 is scheduled for Tuesday,September 16,on ABC.
Sweetin finished in 8th place during her 2016 run on DWTS, partnered with professional dancer Keo Motsepe. She described their partnership as positive and supportive, noting Motsepe’s patience and ability to push her. “We got along so well and we had so much fun and I was actually really grateful to him as a teacher because he was patient but pushed me,” she said. “You definitely get to know and trust the people that you’re out ther dancing with.”
Season 22 also featured Mischa Barton, Geraldo Rivera, and Ginger Zee, with Nyle DiMarco ultimately taking home the mirrorball trophy. Sweetin’s warning to Fishel highlights the frequently enough-overlooked psychological aspects of the competition, where even seemingly minor details like wardrobe can play a significant role in a contestant’s performance and overall experience.
