A gathering of leaders associated with Argentine Governor Axel Kicillof took place in Corrientes province on Friday, signaling a push to consolidate a national political project, according to reports from La Nación. The meeting, held in Empedrado, was led by former mayors Alberto Descalzo (Ituzaingó) and Julio Pereyra (Florencio Varela), who are described as envoys of Kicillof.
The event, organized by the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF), emphasized themes of unity, federalism, and grassroots organization. The move comes as President Javier Milei’s administration faces increasing scrutiny over the actions of his cabinet members.
Separately, accusations of falsification have surfaced regarding travel expenses claimed by Manuel Adorni, the President’s Chief of Staff. Marcela Pagano, a political commentator, posted on social media alleging a fabricated invoice for Adorni’s return travel, claiming it was issued after the trip had already occurred. The alleged invoice dates to March 9th, while the travel took place on February 17th, according to Pagano’s post.
Sources within the Casa Rosada, however, claim to grasp the identity of the individual who filmed Adorni before he boarded a private flight to Punta del Este during a recent carnival holiday. The Justice Department is currently investigating the source of the video, which surfaced earlier this week.
Javier Milei assumed the presidency of Argentina in December 2023. He is an economist by profession, having graduated from the University of Belgrano and holding postgraduate degrees from the Instituto de Desarrollo Económico y Social (IDES) and the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Prior to entering politics, Milei gained public recognition through television appearances, where he presented liberal economic ideas in a provocative manner. He entered politics in 2021, winning two seats in the Buenos Aires City legislature as part of the La Libertad Avanza coalition.
