MILAN – The U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team secured its fifth consecutive Paralympic Winter Games gold medal on Sunday, defeating Canada 6-2 at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena. The victory marks the sixth Paralympic gold medal for Team USA in sled hockey, adding to their previous wins in 2002, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022.
Jack Wallace of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, led the U.S. Team with a dominant four-point performance, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Kayden Beasley, Declan Farmer, and Brody Roybal also contributed goals to the American victory. For Canada, Liam Hickey scored both of his team’s goals.
The U.S. Team finished the 2026 Paralympic Games with a perfect 5-0-0-0 record, outscoring their opponents by a significant margin of 46-6. Wallace opened the scoring at 8:39 of the first period during a power play, capitalizing on a shot from the left faceoff circle. U.S. Netminder Griffin LaMarre made crucial saves during a penalty kill late in the first period to maintain the one-goal lead.
Canada briefly tied the game early in the second period with a power-play goal from Hickey, but Beasley quickly responded for the U.S., scoring an unassisted goal at 6:29. Wallace then extended the lead with a breakaway goal at 9:52, assisted by Declan Farmer, putting the U.S. Ahead 3-1.
“I really liked our compete level tonight, this team was so determined,” said David Hoff, head coach of the 2026 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team. “That was the difference. We set a very good pace tonight and played that way for three periods to accomplish our ultimate goal.”
The U.S. Victory also completes a sweep of all three Paralympic and Olympic hockey events at a single tournament, following gold medal wins by the U.S. Men’s and women’s ice hockey teams at the Milan Cortina Games last month. The men’s and women’s Olympic victories both came in overtime.
“This team is so special. We love each other,” Wallace told NBC after the win. “This team grinded it out, a gritty f—ing game. It was unbelievable. I love these guys so much.”
The U.S. Team’s dominant performance continues a historic run in Paralympic sled hockey, establishing them as the first nation to win five consecutive Paralympic titles in the sport.
